Bioproduction of acetic acid from carbon dioxide as single substrate and zero valent iron (ZVI) by clostridia

چکیده

Developing innovative bioprocess strategies for carbon capture and utilization has been a major focus of research over the past decade as way creating more resilient world. In this study, zero-valent iron (ZVI) was utilized to generate hydrogen, which then an electron donor CO2 reduction by either Clostridium aceticum or carboxidivorans. For bioprocess, early acidic condition in reactors facilitated hydrogen production thereby acetic acid accumulation, contrast later acidification, elucidating role pH ZVI-CO2 bioconversion. Acetic produced single end product process both batch bottle studies with no control well reactor regulation. This is, best our knowledge, first report on selective pure bioconversion clostridia, ZVI. order minimize costs, scrap rather than ZVI can be used scaling-up. By lowering 6.6 C. aceticum, 75 g/L ZVI, some ethanol (125 mg/L) also observed, besides acid. studies, maximum concentration about 2 obtained at concentrations 50 g/L. Thus, dosage medium have effect metabolites generated during utilization.

Zero Valent Iron (ZVI) nanocomposite for the removal of hexavalent chromium from aqueous solution

S. Ponmani and C. Udayasoorian Abstract -A new class of nano scale zero valent iron (nZVI) particles supported on activated carbon (AC) were synthesized and the feasibility of using nanocomposite (AC+nZVI) for the removal of Cr(VI) in water was investigated through laboratory batch test. Nanocomposite was synthesized by impregnating carbon with ferrous sulfate followed by chemical reduction wit...

Haloacetic acid removal by sequential zero-valent iron reduction and biologically active carbon degradation.

An innovative haloacetic acid (HAA) removal process was developed. The process consisted of a zero-valent iron (Fe(0)) column followed by a biologically active carbon (BAC) column that were efficient in degrading tri- and di-HAAs, and mono- and di-HAAs, respectively. The merit of the process was demonstrated by its performance in removing trichloroacetic acid (TCAA). An empty bed contact time o...
